“Never take yourself or an outfit too seriously.” —Iris Apfel
In the words of style maverick Iris Apfel (Rare Bird of Fashion), I am wearing “everything and the kitchen sink.”
Did my mother tell me to play an instrument or carry an instrument handbag in order to be popular? I must call her.
My philosophy of fashion is very simple: Does it make me smile when I look in the mirror?
These socks are so sick and fabulous.
Summer humidity = oversize clothes = effortless style = slouch chic.
I did a quick survey about anklets with high heels and it was unanimous: The people did not approve. (That didn’t stop me.)
After recovering from “I hate that hat,” I was told I was wearing “clown shoes.” I guess no one is listening: I dress to express my “get over yourself.”
I welcome constructive comments on my look but when it’s negative (e.g. “I hate that hat”) I ignore it. Listen to yourself.
I don’t like “black tie” as I would rather buy a raincoat. Still..one must honor the occasion. Trick: Buy something you can pull apart and wear as separates. I turned the heat down on the skirt by pairing it with a casual jacket.
Wouldn’t you go nuts for a collection of chic waterproof skirts, pants, jackets, and shoes? It would be a slam-dunk. (I could only find this skirt.)
She’s voluptuous. Curvy. Luscious in knits.
And terrified of shopping.
