I’m serious about not being serious when it comes to your personal style. I’m a big fan of humor and bravissimo (and an authoritative shoe).
I adore a scarf. Long, short, solid, patterned, or so small it once was a pocket square. I found today’s scarf in the men’s department. When it comes to style, I’m pretty fearless.
All-time record for pulling off this look: Nine minutes. The secret: I organize my closets by color. (And I have no heat due to the hurricane so I’m not about to linger.) Wink!
I am passionate about juxtaposition especially when you wear something rugged like rain “sneakers” with a dress. Think of it as a “twist” or a “pop” to your ensemble.
Of course I could have chosen to wear brown stockings with this get-up but would it have been as fun? And isn’t fun the name of the game when it comes to personal style?
I had a giggle this morning when I shopped my closet with a flashlight looking for a vest. I love vests, don’t you? (And heat, of course). Let us pray.
People, please remember that even though you have no heat, electricity, or phones, you should still accessorize like nobody’s business.
When you shop your closet, start with your socks. Socks can send your look into the stratosphere!
Pockets! I love them. In the front. On the side. On the back of a skirt. With gloves hanging out just so. (Why shouldn’t we love you coming and going?)
Admittedly ridiculous: pants that sweep the ground on a rainy day and a 59 year old woman wearing a barrette. Totally in command, people, totally in command.
It is not easy to be unfailingly charming. Or fun to be with. The discipline of being delightful at all times may seem impossible. It’s not.
